Introducing Core Parenting

Most parents carry around their own unresolved childhood issues. In fact our children, bless them, play a large role in bringing these issues to our awareness. This can be a painful matter, and unless well managed, our own childhood wounds are passed onto our children.

And often we feel the worse for it.

Parenting from the Core

Parenting programs are one-on-one sessions with a Professional Practitioner in Body Psychotherapy who will help you move through your own issues. This will eventually allow you to parent from a more neutral standpoint, instead of a highly charged emotional and reactive state.

In these one-on-one sessions you will learn how:

To be aware of your own mental / emotional barriers to better parenting.
Your personality and your child’s personality interact in positive and negative ways.
To trust yourself more.
To discern between what is yours and what is your child’s responsibility in any situation.
To be more present in times of parenting stress so you can attend to your needs and your child’s needs.
The personalities of other family members influence your parenting ability.

What each Program includes

Each program starts with an introduction to the theory of Body Psychotherapy (including a basic handbook), a case history and counselling.
A tailored program is then developed, consisting of a number of one-on-one sessions with your Body Psychotherapist.
Each one-on-one session lasts one hour, and will probably be scheduled in on a weekly basis. These sessions involve a range of techniques including counselling, body-centred grounding exercises and emotional expression.
Practitioners from other modalities may also be involved depending on your needs.
At the end of the program an evaluation session is done to ensure progress was made on your goals.
